Welcome to our August Newsletter,
High Summer is upon us here at the copper house and the air is filled with the shrieks and laughter of children young and old going ghyll scrambling up church beck, its a long time since we did any ghyll scrambling but it now sounds either terrifying or the most fun you can have. Luckily the recent rainfall has got both becks back to a healthy flow, which is important for us because we use the water from mines beck to cool all our cutting, polishing and coring machines, not only is this far more eco friendly than using oil to cool, it also gives our slate such a lovely tactile and clean finish to our minds far superior to imported slates.
Brendan has been on a bit of a sales push these last few weeks, of course its been a “slow selling” sales push adhering to the principles in his book (slow selling, co authored with Corey Arnold) So, he selects a suitable target accounts and explains all about us and how we work, our ethics etc. then the decision to join us is theirs to be taken in their timeframe, no pressure. It seems to work because we have several new outlets now supplying our goods, we’ve been looking at south and west Cumbria but we’ve also got new accounts in Staffordshire, Shropshire and Gloucestershire.
Laura is finishing our Christmas offering, she’s designing some timeless products that can be used every Christmas (we don’t subscribe o the throwaway society). Once she’s designed the products Andy, George and Liam make prototypes and Ciaran can then photograph them and put them on our websites and e-media. It’s exciting times, we’ve never done anything for Christmas so we’re hoping its a success.
